Save 29 September to 8 October 2017

Lake Umuzi would want to thank all supporters, participants and visitors to this year’s Secunda Springfest.  Without you this festival wouldn’t have been a success.

Mark your calendars for next year’s Secunda Springfest.  If you’ve missed out this year make sure that you don’t miss out on the next one – 29 September to 8 October 2017.

Highlights of this year’s Secunda Springfest:

Oktoberfest:  Eish!! hosted this year’s Octoberfest, with local talent that took to the stage from early to late.  Apart from well-known artists such as Majozi, Matthew Mole, Monark, Gangs of Ballet, ShutUp! Its Sunday, Juan Boucher, Ray Dylan, Ettienne, Refentse, Stuart Milne, Josh Wantle, The Sextons, Loki, Strait Jackal and many more Lake Umuzi gave back to the community in leaps and bounds by giving local artists an opportunity to perform in front of a live crowd.  Many of these artists have won themselves full time gigs at Eish!!.

Colour Run: 500 people entered the 5km run or walk challenge across the PDP Kruger Drive scaffolding bridge, around the Finch Dam, back over the bridge and around the Lake Umuzi Waterfront.  Dipreez Hatting and Zegert Niewoudt were respectively first and second.

Aquazone Springfest: The kids were also entertained with activities at Aquazone Waterpark including pony rides, jumping castles, rocky waters, carnival kids, fun runs, fun rides and tenpin bowling.

Paws in the Park: On Saturday 08 October 2016 Lake Umuzi in partnership with Little Paws Big Hearts hosted the second Animal Fun Run, Paws in the Park. The day was a huge success, and even more furry friends entered the fun run than the very first Paws in the Park of April 2016.  A Record of 165 Dogs and their owners joined the fun by either walking the 2- or 4-kilometer race. Little Paws Big Hearts also received dog and cat food donations to the value of R5600. All the funds raised will be used to spay and neuter pets in the informal settlements.

Bass Fishing Challenge: 7 days of fishing with daily prizes and overall prizes the challenge stirred up a lot of excitement.  The youngsters were taking the lead and showing everyone what’s really underneath the surface…

Miss Matric: The beautiful matric ladies boastfully presented their matric farewell dresses to the crowd and reminded everyone that there’s still splendour in the modern generation.  Zanile Nkabinde has been crowned as Miss Matric 2016.

Air Show: The Harvard Air Show and the Pitts Special Air Show left everyone astonished in what the limits are when you’re in an aeroplane in the sky – no limits! Jaw-dropping performances were in the order of the day. Performed by South Africa’s premier aerobatic teams under the experienced leadership of Scully Levin! Amazing!!

WynInniTyn: On Saturday, 8 October Lake Umuzi hosted Wyn Inni Tyn where guest artists such as Danie Niehaus, Jakkie Louw, Len Muller, Charlize Berg, Cordelia, and Philippe Abalovi entertained the crowd in a relaxed garden atmosphere.  The evening was a great success as everyone enjoyed the wine and the dinner. We hope to have double the crowd with 2017.

So many excitement were experienced throughout the week and it’s just impossible to cover everything in precise detail.  We all sure enjoyed ourselves and we hope that you had a memorable time as well.  Once again thank you for each and every one that made a contribution.
